A diarama in the Wright Brothers National Memorial depicts the activity of preparing the Wright Brothers powered machine for its first flight on December 17, 1903.
Based on historical research and photographs of the originals, these living quarters and hangar buildings were reproduced on the site of the original buildings. Period furnishing within the quarters are much as those used by the brothers. Marker No 1 designates the first flight's landing point
The interior of the reconstructed 1903 living quarters is furnished with objects that appear in original photographs. the Wrights slept aloft, cooked on a gasoline stove in the kitchen, and entertained friends around a heater built from an empty carbide drum.
